The vice chancellor, National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, has called on the newly matriculated students of the institution to shun all the vices such as cultism, examination malpractice, and all other anti-social behaviours that may hamper their academic progression.

Professor Adamu made the call at the 17th matriculation ceremony of NOUN in Abuja, yesterday. The vice chancellor, who was represented by the National Union Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) director of NOUN study centre in Garki 2, Professor Akin Ibikunle, said the university is offering students who have subscribed to it the opportunity for self development and for participation in the their communities.

He added that the students will be certified qualified in character and learning at the end of their studies in four years. He however, cautioned them to avoid bad behaviours saying, “To be qualified as such, you must be seen by your peers and the officials of the University to have lived above board. You must, therefore, shun all the vices that may hamper your academic progression. You must say no to cultism, examination malpractice and all other anti social behaviours.”

The vice chancellor concluded by enjoining the students to make the best experience of the university by staying at home with the rules and regulations governing their studentship.
